The New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum is Now Open to the Public

The construction of the New Sonobudoyo Museum Building which began in 2019 has now been completed and can be visited in general. This new building is located on the west side of the Sonobudoyo Museum Library building. The addition of the new building at the Sonobudoyo Museum does not move or reduce the old museum collection. The old Sonobudoyo museum collections can still be visited in the Sonobudoyo Museum building.

The price of admission to the New Sonobudoyo Museum Building is only Rp. 10,000 for adult domestic individuals and Rp. 5000 for individual children can already access the new building, the old museum building, and the cinema building. Purchase of entrance tickets can be purchased at the ticket sales counter which is located west of the south gate entrance of the Sonobudoyo Museum. Ticket purchases can be made in a cashless or non-cash manner at the ticket sales counter after filling in the guest list for visitors to the Sonobudoyo Museum. Visitors can visit the New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum from Tuesday to Sunday, from 08.00 WIB to 20.00 WIB.

The road to the New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum can be through the main entrance to the old museum. Visitor tickets will be checked by officers by showing proof of payment at the ticket counter. The rules in the New Building area are almost the same as those applied to the old museum exhibition building. There are several rules that visitors need to pay attention to
1. Visitors are expected to keep their distance from the collection according to predetermined limits.
2. Visitors are not allowed to touch the entire collection, an alarm will sound.
3. Visitors are not allowed to eat or drink in the exhibition building.
4. Visitors are allowed to document collections with gadgets or cameras, but do not turn on flash or flash.

The New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum is divided into three floors. The collections on display are those of the Sonobudoyo Museum covering several themes, such as areas of travel and transportation, banquets and events, performing arts, masks, wayang, keris and weapons, dance and music.

There is something very striking that makes the museum collection in the New Building look very different from the old sonobudoyo exhibition building. The collection in the New Building includes video mapping technology which will make the museum collection more interesting and interactive. Some of the collections that contain video mapping technology are the banquet and event area, the puppet area, and the keris area.

The new building of the Sonobudoyo Museum has an interesting layout, visitors don't just have to walk through the halls and jostle with other visitors. This very modern layout makes the New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum feel very spacious, spacious and cool which supports the comfort of visitors. There are also two elevators for visitors who want to go up and down the floors without climbing stairs. The existence of these supporting facilities makes visiting the New Building of the Sonobudoyo Museum comfortable.
