The Meaning of the Mouse Deer for Children on National Children's Day

Wayang mouse deer is present as a new art form of wayang performance with animal figures. The first mouse deer puppet was made by Bah Bo Liem and RM. Sajid around 1925. The deer puppet collection in the Sonobudoyo Museum was made by Mbah Ledjar in 1993-1994. In a performance of the mouse deer puppet, the story plays are taken from several classic texts of the mouse deer fiber and a variety of mouse deer fairy tales which usually contain important moral messages for children for their development.

The fairy tale of the mouse deer is a story that is often told by parents to their children. The stories told in the mouse deer fairy tale are not just children's stories full of humor, but have a message behind the story. The message contained in the deer fairy tale is intended so that later the children will become individuals with noble and virtuous behavior when they grow up.
