Sonobudoyo Museum in collaboration with Bruker Corporation based in Germany will organize a collection analysis workshop using XRF (X-Ray Fluoresence). This activity aims to develop museum collection management towards world-class museum management. The activity was held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 08.00 WIB at the Auditorium of the Sonobudoyo Museum Unit 1. The resource person for this workshop was Mr. Michele Occhipinti (R8aD Engineer for Radiation Sensors and Scientific Instruments at Bruker Nano Analytics)
The workshop was attended by BAPPENAS, the Indonesian Batik Museum TMI and the Indonesian Music Museum. The XRF tool can help analyze the elemental composition in a sample quickly so that it will facilitate the process of assessment and collection maintenance. The workshop, which was organized by the Sonobudoyo Museum and Bruker Corporation, used XRF with the Elio type. The XRF has portable and non-contact and non-destructive properties to the material/sample so as to minimize damage to the collection. Through this workshop, participants will gain knowledge about the use of XRF and how to analyze collections based on XRF scan results with experts in their fields.
